Ex-to the-Hausted!

It's Thursday, I think.  I stayed at school today to nearly 6:00 p.m.  I was the last one there, I'm sure of it.  It was dark when I left.  I was scared.

Not really.  I was, however, scared of how I looked when I finally came home and looked at myself in the mirror.

Can I say, Ex- to the- Hausted again?  It might just be my new catch-phrase.  Except that it's a bad one.

I'm 4 days in...

You know my lovely room that I spent all summer long getting ready?  If you didn't catch that post, head on over by clicking {here}.

Let me give you a peak at how it looks now...after 80ish wonderful boys and girls have trampled through it for four days.

(Of course, let me preface by saying that these are some S.W.E.E.T kiddos.  I will tell you all about them when I'm not so tired.)

Here's my small group table.  Not so clean anymore:
And my back counter:
And the students' supply bags are all over the place.  You see my green ottomans? Well, the rest of the bags are all shoved in those:
Ahh, the mess is killing me.

My table caddies have been sent to time-out:

Poor things.

OK, to be completely honest.  It's not the kids...it's me.  I'm so busy running around like a chicken with my head cut off, you know "teaching", that this is how my desk now looks:
That little black "dot" is a magnet that fell off of something waiting to be glued back on again.

And tomorrow's Friday.

The End.

  1. OMGosh your desk looks like mine!!! No matter how hard I try, I CANNOT KEEP IT CLEAN!! Or my back counter. Or my table. Stuff just starts to pile up and then at the end of the day I'm like...WTF!!? lol I hate it! I'm working on it! I love your bright colors. ;)

  2. Thanks for being so transparent. My room is beautiful in the morning and a hot mess by the end of the day. It's getting better and I'm learning how to clean my desk throughout the day. Good luck with getting in your groove!

  3. Whew. Glad it's not just me. I lost sight of my desk after Day 1. I've already had to rearrange my desks twice. And it's only been 4 days. I'm pooped.

  4. I am certain that's how my room is going to look after day one! I'm hoping I can at least work on cleaning my desk before I leave each day this year.

  5. Today was day 9 with kids - I've had 2 more "new" students - so seating has changed... and my cute little clothespins with dicuts kept popping off the wall - so I ripped them out today as well. It has to get better, right?

  6. I have always said that my room would be so pretty, and I would have everything I need to do finished if it weren't for those darn kids coming to school everyday! Oh wait... But then I wouldn't be there either! What did the cute little supply caddies do to deserve timeout? ;)

  7. Your desk looks vaguely familiar, oh yeah that's because after 3 days, my desk looks the exact same way. I don't know about you but at the end of the day, I am just so exhausted I just want to take my plans/papers home. Happy Friday!

  9. Oh I can so relate to this and I know it will be happening to me in about a week. I get so wrapped up in the lessons that my table is a disaster at the end of the day!

I'm sorry to hear you're so tired my friend...I'm dreading those beginning days of tiredness!!! I hope your weekend gets here soon :)

  10. LOL! I just laughed all the way through this because if I were funny enough, I could have written this same post myself. :) You took the words right out of my mouth about my room and my mess! Happy Friday...and if it is any consolation to you, one of those kids thinks you are the best teacher in the world!! <3

  11. I feel your pain friend.....my first week, I seriously thought something was physically wrong with me...lol. I thought, well I ran all summer I should feel great the first week....NOT! All I could do was come home, sit on the couch and stare.....that's all I had the strength for. I am ending week 3 and it does get better:)))) I may be packing my back for a visit friend:) Oh I wish! 13. I just finished day 4 today and I'm feeling the same way. It's so nice to read that I'm not the only one that feels this way. I always forget how completely time consuming and utterly overwhelming the beginning of the school year is. To top things off, it was raining today which meant indoor lunch recess and not enough supervising help.....so no lunch for me....TGIF!!!!
