Monday Made It {July 14}

For the last few weeks, I've been very slack about my Made Its.  I think I finally figured out why.  I didn't have direction.

Changing jobs and moving schools can be quite the challenge.  Not only do I have a huge "unknown" about the new role I'm taking, I also had a huge "unknown" about my space. Hence the mental "crafty" block.

However, last week, I found out which room I will be using next year at my new school.

And, y'all....it is BEA-U-TI-FULLLLLLLLLLL!  Get this...it even has a patio.

You read that right.

I mean, really?  How lucky am I?

So, now that I have a direction, I've gotten a little busy trying to decorate this new room.  Check out my progress...
Let me give you a little background about this one...Since I am going to be teaching ESOL, I won't have a typical classroom.  I will be pulling students from their classes to work one-on-one or in small groups.  I will bring them to my room.

So, I thought...why not make my room more like a "living room".  I mean, what student wouldn't love coming to visit a teacher who feels like she's at home?  For years I've decorated my room so that when I walk in the door, I feel at home.  That's been the type of room that I wanted to share with my students.  I want to LOVE spending most of my day in this space.  Now, I can do that even more....

I have plans for a sofa, two chairs, some side tables and coffee table.

Yes, I will also have a small group table with my stools from Ikea.  We have to have some "spread out" working room, after all.

My mother's friend gave me the table below and I knew it had to be a bright orange.  You will see why a little further down.

It's not quite finished....it needs one more coat of paint, but I ran out :(  Off to Lowes....

This is the fabric I found for the curtains.

What do you think?

My thoughts are that I am going to have my classroom have the same colors as my Made It #2...
I didn't make this one myself.  The fabulous Megan from A Bird in Hand Designs created this new look for my blog and I LOVE it!  You might have noticed it last week.  She uploaded everything last Sunday night. You might have also seen my post on Instagram about it.
I am so grateful for her and for her creativity.  She was so patient and such a pleasure to work with during this process.  If you are ever in need of blog design, she's the gal I would 100% recommend.

So, I've been working away on Math Moves for 5th grade.  I have finished Weeks 1-9, Weeks 10-18, and I am almost finished with Weeks 19-27!! Yay!  The end is officially in sight!

Who teaches 5th grade and would like to do some editing?  Email me at funinroom4b@gmail.com if you are interest.  I'd GREATLY appreciate it.

One final thing that I have upgraded a bit is my Teacher Toolbox.  I need to change a few of the drawers on mine to fit the needs of my office space at my second school (I am only there one day a week).

The bottom picture is a bit fuzzy...it's an old one, sorry!

Can you use them?  I've uploaded an EDITABLE file at Teachers Pay Teachers {here}.

Now off to do more painting and shopping!
Thanks, Tara, for this wonderful link up each week.  Now that I've gotten my groove back, you will see more of me in the weeks ahead!

Have a great week!

  4. Your blog looks amazing! Megan is incredible, she did my redesign not too long ago. I love your ideas for your classroom. I was an ELD teacher for years and when we did pull out it was tricky to get students to WANT to work in a different classroom. I can't wait to read about your experiences. I am your newest follower.

  7. Hey Elizabeth,

This all looks fantastic! I love the idea of the living room design. Back when I taught reading intervention, I tried to do something similar. I'm excited to see how it goes for you!!

  8. I think I am having the same problem you had. I am changing districts and grade levels for next year. I am going from teaching first to one class to teaching science and social studies to 3 third grade classes. I have so much I need to do, I just now started on some signs/labels for the classroom. I have had trouble even trying to get it my head what I might need. Thanks for sharing, it encouraged me to keep trying!

  9. I am very jealous that you got to see your new space and that you have patio. My friend and I would often joke about setting up a patio outside her room but you actually get one!! It is hard planning when you do not know what your space will look like. Congrats on almost being done your Math Moves - huge project but great product!!
